This was my first experience with acupuncture, and unfortunately, it was not a positive one.
My appointment was scheduled for 10:00 a.m with Marina Doktorman. At 9:15 a.m., I received a phone call that I was unable to answer, followed by a text message informing me that the practitioner would not arrive until 10:30 a.m. I was simply informed of the delay without being asked if that time still worked for me or if I would prefer to reschedule.
I arrived at 10:20 a.m., as I always try to arrive a few minutes early for appointments. The office was still closed. At 10:32 a.m., I sent a message explaining that I could not wait much longer because I had to go to work. The practitioner arrived around 10:38 a.m., and I then had to wait while she opened the office and got everything ready.
Another patient, whose appointment was at 10:30 a.m., was called in before me. At that point, I asked to cancel my appointment because it no longer made sense for me to stay after such a long delay. I ultimately stayed, but I was already disappointed with the experience.
Since this was my first acupuncture session, I expected a brief explanation of what to expect, how the treatment would be performed, and how long each step would take. Instead, I received very little information, which left me feeling anxious throughout the session.
I also explained that my main concern was muscle tension in my shoulders and trapezius. In my experience, those areas did not receive the attention I expected, and I did not notice any improvement after the treatment.
The appointment description also stated that a light massage was included, but that part of the service was not provided.
Finally, after the session ended, I discovered that one of the acupuncture needles had been left in my body, and I had to remove it myself. That was particularly concerning.
I paid $145 for a 60-minute session, and considering the delay, the lack of communication, the experience during the treatment, and the fact that I left feeling exactly the same, I was very disappointed.
This review reflects only my personal experience. It may have been an off day, but based on my first impression, I would not return or recommend this practice.
